Bighorn Sheep Tracking Collar - "Raising awareness for Mycoplasma Ovipneumoniae (M.Ovi)"

Collar #64 was deployed in 2018 as an ongoing research project for Psorotic mange and health monitoring. This collar was deployed in the spring of 2018 on a 3 year old ram. This ram survived for several years before he was killed by predation from a cougar. He was killed in a thickly wooded area as he moved towards rocky escape terrain. This is an area that Wild Sheep Society of BC has funded the initial stages of habitat enhancement work such as thinning and spacing to increase food abundance, and reduce predation risk. This population is also the population that is currently experiencing a M.ovi outbreak in the southern interior of BC. As you can see in the photos, the tag has bite marks from the Cougar.
Studying bighorn sheep by monitoring radio-collared individuals with GPS collars that upload locations to satellites. The satellite transmitter sends data about an individual’s location to a web site or via email. Lambs are especially susceptible to pneumonia so we intensively monitor ewes and lambs from birth to weaning. Data from these collars are the basis of solid research around this disease. The information about survival, location, reproduction, and habitat is to improve the understanding of pneumonia transmission dynamics across the landscape of British Columbia.
Every dollar raised from this auction item will go directly to Mycoplasma Ovipneumoniae research in British Columbia, and to help eradicate it from the landscape.

The Wild Sheep Society of BC (WSSBC) is organized to benefit wild sheep by generating funds by auctioning items donated by individuals and/or companies.
Any bid made at a WSSBC auction, whether in person at a live auction, by phone, online or at a silent auction, constitutes an unconditional offer to buy the item in question at the price bid. Unless a higher and subsequent bid is made, your bid creates a binding contract of purchase, obligates you to sign the bid ticket or, in the case of a phone or online bid, authorizes the person who took the bid to sign on your behalf AND requires that the bid amount be paid prior to the close of the auction. In the event that the successful bid was made by phone or online, the bid price must be received before the close of the fifth business day after the close of the auction.
Any failure of compliance with the provision above will result in the addition of any costs incurred because of non-compliance, plus the addition of interest at the rate of 1% per month, or portion thereof, that payment is late. Auction items must be paid for by the close of Convention. Payments will be taken at the auction payment table after the evening auction. Payments can be made by cash, check, Visa and MasterCard. If the winner of an auction refuses to pay the winning bid price plus any premiums required, the item shall be offered to the next highest bidder for the price he/she bid. If the next highest bidder declines the item or if the second highest bidder is unknown, the President shall dispose of the item at his/her discretion.
ONLINE BIDDING: All online bidders will be required to pay a 5% buyer’s premium up to a maximum of $250. Proceeds will go to WSSBC's Conservation Initiatives.

All goods in the live and silent auctions and fund-raising areas have been acquired or obtained from third parties. The purchaser acknowledges that the goods have not been inspected by WSSBC, and is advised, in the case of firearms, knives, bullets, or other weapons to obtain a competent inspection and test of the goods before use. The goods sold in both the live and silent auctions are sold ‘’AS IS” with all faults and defects, and without any express or implied warranty on the part of WSSBC. WSSBC provides no warranties of fitness and expressly disclaims the same. WSSBC does not accept any liability or responsibility for any product, design, or use. Any written warranties on the goods delivered to the high bidder are those solely of the manufactures, and/or their agents, and shall be the sole liability and responsibility of the manufacturer.
All services, hunts, or otherwise, in the live and silent auctions and fund-raising areas have been acquired for and are to be furnished by third parties and contain the same reservation set forth under “goods” above. No services in the live auction are to be or will be performed by WSSBC. WSSBC shall bear no responsibilities for the delivery or quality of any of the services, or for any loss or damages arising from or related to or connected with the performance or non-performance of such services. The purchaser also acknowledges that in the event that services are purchased, WSSBC cannot be responsible for or liable for any political unrest or instability that may occur outside the United States. WSSBC cannot be accountable for any injuries or damages that may arise there from. WSSBC reserves the right to add items to the auctions as additional donations become available.
